The clerics bring their captive to the kirk beyond the brook
Their tears for what their sorrow stole are chilling
For many there is mourning for the innocence they took
But all of them are certain she was willing
A life, a child, a pure, untainted soul
In reverence is welcomed to the Church
She wears the Devil’s choker, black as coal
With braided twists of mistletoe and birch
The majesty of martyrdom, the duty of the dead
The reverence for sacrifice and killing
Would blind the meek with misery, destroying them with dread
Their wretched blood unworthy of the spilling
The slaughter of a monkey marks the dawn
The omens of its liver augur well
And with the bones of babies never born
They pave a path to guide the child to Hell
They piss upon the icons and the altar they defile
The symbols of the saviour they revile
Let evil demons, dripping with disease
Infect her heart with darkness and decay
An offering of innocence to please
Our Lord, our King, on this auspicious day
In winter, in a cold, accursed kirk beyond the brook
The songs before the sacrifice are chilling
But nowhere is there sorrow for the sleeping soul they took
The sudden hush is thrilling
She whispers she is willing
And they sanctify their sickness with her killing
With blood they bless the body of the child
And sing to see her destiny defiled
