I see the same destructive dream again,
But this time there is no one left alive.
They vanish, but I don’t remember when,
Too desperate to run, to stay alive.
It always ends with emptiness, with pain,
Another nightmare, watching as they die,
And, hovering above, a swirling stain,
A shifting silhouette, the Devil’s Eye.
A sentinel, a silent slave of Hell,
It watches, never weary of the game,
And, fighting for my freedom from the spell,
It sees a toy, to torture, twist, and tame.
Tomorrow, if I stumble, if I fall,
My soul will burn, forever, with them all.
